Okay, I know this is going to sound really stupid. We bought a '96 disco this weekend and driving home we couldn't get the cruise control to work. It only has two buttons on the right side of steering wheel. Set + and res -. How do you turn it on??? There's also a button that has a picture in it of two lines w/ what looks like a skateboard over them. The previous owner didn't have the owner's manual and I just emailed him to ask these questions and he didn't know the answers. These are stupid questions but I'd appreciate some help with them. Push in the two line button and the light will come on, this turns it on. Then you use it as normal.

The 2 lines with the "skateboard" is LRs drawing of a divided highway with a bridge running over it-

That's the on/off switch for the CC.

That button (2 lines with the "skateboard") confused me a bit at first too. Turns out it's the icon used on street signs in England to denote the M (primary) highways. My first thought while driving over there was "Hey, why do they have a LR cruise control button on that sign up ahead." At which point it all clicked together.

Most European vehicles have symbols instead of words descriptions because of the different languages. Its much easier to identify symbols across different languages then try to decipher and translate. Many people in the US though, don't like it becuase its confusing at first, and many people don't have the foresight that becuase of the system in Europe, icons are the best method to identify with such a variety of people and backgrounds. Ask people who drive Fords and Chevys about the window control switches being in the center rather then on the door and you'll see how unforgiving they are about different things.
