I am trying to install a brake controller on a 97 Disco I.

It seems that the trailer wiring harness ought to begin somewhere near the brake light switch in the dash and I would like to connect in there.

Anyone have any idea on where this might be?

Also, has anyone used the aux trailer power to power the controller?

Also, I apologize for the newby mistake of posting this originally to the Sunroof question. I even read the Documentation but was in the wrong place to post a new topic.

Thanks,

John J

The trailer wiring harness is located inside the trim panel near the right rear taillight. When you pull off the panel to get to the taillight bulbs, you'll see the factory 6 (or 7) pin plug and two additional pigtails. There's an article in the Tech section about splicing in a U-Haul 4-pin wiring harness, but I don't know what connector you'll be using. One of the two pigtails probably could be used as a ground for the brake controller? (that's not really my expertise :) ) Hopefully this will get you started at least.
