Hello all. I'm torn between a set of rectangular IPF off road lights and the Hella 4000's that are round. I believe they will both fit on the ARB bumper for my DII. Also, what is a pencil beam, corner beam etc. and what should I put on the bumper for my first set of lights? I'm going to attempt to hook them directly to the factory harness that had been hooked up to the driving lights in the stock fairing...

If you have an open slot for accessories on your dash hood, I would wire in your own switch to your lights. I just wired the relay for a negative triiger so now I can turn my lights on with the car off and hi-beams off. I wired my hellas in to factory switch and it went bad after about 3 weeks.

ipf an hella both offer great light.
both are well built. all metal. solid mounting.

i personally like hellas for the looks.
the chrome of the ipf just bothers me.

I would avoid the stock wiring for either the IPF or Hella lights. The stock wiring harness was intended for 50W lights. The Hella lights are 100W and the IPF 130W!

When I had to make the same decision, I chose IPF 800ddcs for one reason - they sit below the top tube of the ARB brushbar, nestled back in the bumper and well protected from brush impact.

You can use the stock harness no problem if you run the wires that are out at the grille now into a relay that controls the Hellas. You then just have minimum under hood wiring to do.

I use a Bosch single pole throw relay if you want to get technical, I did not use the wiring harness for constant 12 volt just to operate my relay.
