Dear All,
I'm sure you all know how frustrating it is to have finally "fixed" your rover for the last time only to have something surface after only three days of bliss. I just had my fuel pump replaced and then I come to find this new heavy vibration in the truck (96). It seems that when I reach speeds of over 25ish mph the truck will shake and I will hear a tremendous squeaking sound that accompanies the acceleration of the vehicle. I have noticed that when I let off the gas and allow the truck to coast there is no problem. Is this a transmission thing (all my diff fluids and stuff are in good shape) or a valve thing. I'm just not sure!

Thanks for the help and I apologize for the vague indicators but I'm still tinkering with it
Dave,

Could it be a U-joint?

You could see if it's driveshaft related by pulling the front and rear shafts (one at a time), locking the center diff, and driving it. If it goes away with one shaft out of the truck, you know that's the problem (or at least divided possible problem areas in half). Check the thread on u-joint part numbers (I've just been through a long, drawn out u-joint replacement). There are several other threads related to driveline vibes, too, that you might find useful.

You better to check your drive shafts. I had a little vibe, for the last month but did note worry to much. Yesterday morning after picking up my guests, pulling out off the Hotel the front shaft came of putting a hole in the auto pan not to mention the hole in the floor. The shaft luckly missed an on coming car. Very lucky I was not on the HWY. The shaft had done a 230,000km(94 Disco Auto) my FWD guy has only known it happen once on a 350,000km Range. So I thing this is a rare case but worth a look.

Could also be a brake problem? Could it be that the parking brake is stuck on? If you put it in neutral, chock the other wheels, and jack up each wheel in turn, they should turn easily (brake off of course).

Thanks for the input, and I checked through all of these things, my U-joints are fine, the brake is not engaged and there are not visible signs of damage to my drive shaft or leaking fluids. The sound is only apparent when I apply pressure to the accelerator when the truck is in gear. When I rev the engine in neutral or park everything is fine. I just replaced the alternator and serpentine belt, could it have something to do with this,,,,i thought (still think) that i have the serpentine belt routed correctly! I am really hoping I don't have to go to the dealer for this (they're an hour away!)
Thanks for your help!!

Dave
