It's your emergency spare! It needs to be lubed on regular basis otherwise the hood bushing computer gets confused and starts sending incorrect signals to the muffler bearing. Then at midnight your Disco turns into a Jeep. It cannot be turned back into a Disco unless the computer is reprogrammed. You can try driving backwards to unwind it but sometimes it does not work and by then your LR dealer does not want to touch it as it is a Jeep. The Jeep dealer does not have the right diagnostic equipment as it once was a Disco. And you're SOL. ;)

No, it's Land Rover's version of a rock slider. Read you owner's manual!

From the manual:
When climbing large rock formations, align your rock slider (part STC2af) with the highest point on the rock. Put your differential in 4-Low. Steer straight ahead while applying steady throttle. The rock slider will help your vehicle slide up and over the obstacle.

That's an LRA23-4563782FDRFD.2 - only available thru the dealer as a genuine part, and will run you about $2200.00 every 30,000 miles or 6 months.
You'll know it's time to replace it when your Disco feels slow to accelerate from a traffic light.

I thought it was every 15,000 miles. And also I thought it was pathetically slow, not just slow. Slow would be a Suzuki Swift with an automatic and two blown tires with a '83 Cargo roof carrier from Sears on top fully laden!

Your all wrong. Flux compacitor......nope.....its pretty obvious that is the fetzer valve. Duhhhhh. And talk about lack of power and speed, my dads Troy Built tractor has more power than that Renault/Volvo engine that DeLorean has.
Just some wise advise too.....I rub that round thingy (aka fetzer valve) every morning and I have not had one problem with my truck since. Then again I just started yesterday!
