Im just new in learning how to fix my Disco. How hard is it to change the Valve Cover Gasket. Are there a lot to remove. Can a person with no experience do the job? Thanks!!!

If you have worked on other cars/trucks you shouldn't have a problem. However, if you have never replaced a valve cover I have someone else do it. I just replaced one on mine 95 Disco. If you have any other questions email me at [email protected]
Good Luck

Thanks Eric. You are right. For me since I dont have experience in doing this Ill bring it to the dealer. They charge $200 for labor plus parts.

Peter;
You might want to rethink that "bringing it to the dealer" phrase. $200.00 for labor for at best a 30 minute a side job? It is very easy to change the gaskets, just look at it or get a Haynes manual and SAVE YOURSELF some dollars that you can then use to buy some new shocks or some other mod for your truck.

Ya,
I would try it. It is not rocket science all you need is a torque wrench.

PS whats the worst that happens, it still leaks.

Supposing Im going to replace the valve cover gasket on the left side of the engine after I loosen the 4 bolts what else should I remove. The big thing on top of engine (air plenum) thats the one that hinder access to the cover. Should that be remove too? Where can I buy a Haynes Manual. Thanks!!

British Pacific has the Haynes manual for $34.99. I picked mine up yesterday.
I think most of the parts places in the states have them now. There are a few things that don't apply to the North American version, but it's well worth the price.
