What kind of battery does the remote take? Can you replace the battery without having to reprogram the remote? I have read the programming instructions and hoped that by replacing the battery prior to it going dead this step could be avoided.
Thanks,
neil

Standard CR2032 lithium primary coin cell. All the major battery manufacturers market one.
Pop open the remote (helps to take off the key ring first), slide out the cell (DO NOT USE ANYTHING METAL TO DO THIS), and you're set to drop in a new one.

Thanks Jeff,
Do you have to reprogram it after the switch?

ummmm... what happens if you use something metal to push the batteries out of the battery holder thing?
...oh, and my remote takes 2 of those CRwhatever batteries (it's a '95 "uno-button")

If you use a metal screw driver/paperclip/etc. you can short the cell out. Not a big deal, but you could also fry the board (not likely, but a risk).
I didn't realize the older remotes used two cells. I am sure it's a smiliar concept/design. Lithium primaries are the norm as they have a 10+ year shelf life. It's not rocket science, just a simple transmitter. ;-)

Okay. That's kinda what I thought, but I didn't know if the remotes had a special Land Rover Genuine magnetic charge that would be disrupted if something metal touched it and then I'd have to get the dealer to reprogram it for $300.00 or whatever
