Well, I am traveling on business and I get bored after work so I sit around thinking up my next modification.

I have been thinking about making a snorkel. I found this company off of Alan Dobb's web page, this seems to be a great resource for any parts you need to make snorkel. In case anyone can use the page:
http://www.centriprecleaner.com/accessry.htm

Next, I just baught a shop manual off somebody, so now I can find out where to tap in a transmission temp guage. Anybody got any ideas where I can get a tranny temp guage?

Anyone know where I can tap in an oil pressure guage?

I am finishing my gastank skid plate next week, I had a 24.5x28 piece of 1/4" aluminum sheet cut and bent this week. When I get home I will pick it up and see if the 13deg bend was appropriate to match the gas tank. If anyone wants the rest of the measurements I can give them to you when I am done. p.s. It will cost me ~$100 bucks to make the skid plate, worth ~$300 from a shop.

Now, where will I fit the frapachino cooler?

I am sure I will have some more inspiration this evening.

Oh, anyone interested in the dog guard I spoke of for sale last week, I found out the guy wants $150+shipping, it is a LR original still in the box with the hardware still in its wrapper. It is the grey mesh one.

Also, anyone know the suggested weight capacity and manufacturer of the Expedition roof rack? It is a LR original and was used in La Ruta Maya '95. RoverConnection.com has one on their red Disco on their web page, and the guy in the ad for the DiscoWeb Moab video has one. I know there are a couple of us with them, I bought one off a guy and was wondering the manufacturer. As a tip, the guy I baught this one off of had the towers reinforced with 1/8" steel obove the mounting hardware, it is really strong. One more idea, I am replacing the standard screws in the mounting hardware with allen screws, not many theives carry around an allan wrench set.

What was the idea about using allan bolts, or something different for mounting a winch, to deter theives?

Like I said, I get really bored!

Anybody got a pattern for a carcover?

How about a small fan mounted on the transmision cooler?

Well from what I have seen, Disco's have a lot better transmission cooling than D90's so I feel okay for now, it works so I would like to start out monitoring it and then if it gets too hot I can look to a "tow package" type trans cooler.

Thanks Cal

Check out www.gulfcoastrovers.com for a tranny temp gauge.

I don't know about the interchangeability of the temp sensor and a temp sender, but a good place to tap in the temp guage sender would be where the current temp sensor is. Mine hasn't worked for quite some time, so it's just sitting there in the oil line keeping the fluid in unplugged from its wiring harness. It'd be nice to replace it with a guage sender, but my method for guaging tranny fluid temp is, if you can smell it burning, then it's hot. Otherwise you're fine :)

I personally replaced one bolt on my winch with an allen buttonhead one to deter theft.

For gauges (oil press/ trans temp/ etc) - goto summitracing.com - Autometer gauges to your hearts content. I put an Autometer oil press gauge on that flat spot on the left of the instrument cluster above the vent - perfect fit. I used a mechanical gauge and plumbed it to the oil cooler line (output from the engine side) - PIA to install, but works well.
