My wife was having intrmittent overheating problems with her Disco I so we took it into our mechanic and told him the problem. He drove it for a couple days and coulc not get the same results. He did find that the clutch fan was not working properly and replaced it. THEN when he drove it it did overheat or so the gauge said. He took a temp probe to it and found that it wasn't overheating but the temperature sending unit was faulty. We had the sending unit replaced and were told by our mechanic that the passenger side auxiliary fan did not come on even when powered up. I want to know if anyone knows much about replacing this at home. I am a good mechanic just not a diagnostician. A little help from the peanut gallery maybe?

That auxiliary fan is about $230 from the dealer. I remember somebody mentioning on here a possible interchange from a Toyota, but I think they found that it wouldn't work. As far as replacing it at home, take the grille off the front of your truck and you should be able to get at it. Probably pretty straight-forward from that point as far as removal/re-install. Maybe you could have the motor rebuilt? It's made by Denso, so anything Honda/Acura - Toyota/Lexus - Nissan/Infinity would use a Denso A/C system, and maybe one of those cars uses the same fans.

Do a search on my old post, I replaced both the Electric fans with SPAL Fans 970cfm.... $99 each bolt right up, a/c on-over heating problem gone. a/c colder than ever...
