Ok, I know the electrical systems in the LRs deserve an entire standup comedy routine, but I have a question anyway.

My 96 Disco V8 has normally been very "quiet" electronically speaking (ie no interference over radio when using other on-board electronics). I recently picked up a hand-held CB radio and have discovered that my Disco likes to talk to it. When I use the "temporary" position on the wipers I can hear interferrence (white out) on the CB, but when I just have the wiper working normally (either intermitent, slow or fast) there's no problem. Also, when I use the dash mounted radio controls it causes interference, but the on-radio controls do not.

I found if I put the CB down on the center consol or passenger seat it is much better, but since I do not yet have an extrnal antenna the reception is fairly poor there. I prefer to keep the unit sitting on top of the dash when actively being used, but this puts it in the direct line of electrical interference. If I sequelch enough not to experience it, my range is reduced to under a mile.

Years ago I used to follow car audio systems and know stereos in some electrically noisy vehicles can be equiped with isolators to help quiet things down, but I don't know if anything can be done in my case (the CB is picking up the "airborne" interference). The causes are avoidable, since it only happens w/ certain items, so I can live with it if needed. Probably a hopeless cause to rectify, but any ideas?
