My 96 Disco still has coverage under the LR Corrosion Warrenty, and I am in the process of trying to make a claim. I knew I was starting to get some rust in the door wells of both back doors, as well as the cargo door. I spoke w/ the local dealership and was refered to a body shop that is familiar w/ the LRs (it's where the dealer sends their vehicles for work).

So, I visited the body shop yesterday, and they took a look and advised me the rusting was much more serious than I thought. Combined with the way the Disco's pannels are connected, I'm looking at switching out the entire rear door, both rear q-pannels, and both rear door wells. Total parts, labor, paint will be over $5500. The body shop advised me it could be done as a "clean-prime-paint" job but I will probably be rusting out again within 2 years. Replacement is the only way they will guarentee the work.

I turned in my estimate to the dealer but have not heard back yet (expecting a call Mon or Tue). I have had only good dealings w/ the dealership so far, but the body shop warned me to expect resistance (said most dealerships try to talk / force people into the minimum amount of work possible).

In case I hit resistance w/ the dealership, I would love to know in advance exactly what the corosion warrenty covers and how they say it will be fixed. I have tried to find the details on the web, but no luck. Since I bought this through a non-LR dealership it came w/ no paperwork. :-( I love my Disco and plan to get 150k + miles out of if (our Saturn has 180k!). I do not want to have a half-a$$ job done if the warrenty permits more.

Also, if anyone has any personal experiences in this area, good, bad, or ugly, please share. If there's going to be a battle, I want as much ammo as possilbe. advTHANKSance!!
