Hey guys, i've got a 96 Disco I (well, it has me!). Im a clean freak, and i was trying to figure out if there was a way to remove the raised rubber mat that sits on the console (just under the shifter and the diff lock) to clean it. Its raised (textured) rubber, so stuff gets down in it and there is no way to clean it well while its still there. Nothing seems to be holding it down (no glue) except the two shifters perched atop it. Can the boot for the diff lock shifter and the plastic overhousing for the main shifter be popped off without hurting anything???

Yes, I've removed mine several times just be careful when you pop the shifter cover up.
