I´ve a Disco 200 TDI year 1995 with an LR original alarm/anti-theft.
I´ve used as usual the remote command to lock the doors and activate the protection anti-theft.
Today with the same command, wich appears normal - the battery its ok and the red light lights, the Disco doesn't respond, that is, appears that the command produces no effect.
If I use the normal key, I cant open the doors, but doesn't alllow me to start the ignition.
Can someone help me ? Thanks
---- sorry my english---

Uh oh. Yeah, if it's locked with the remote, it MUST be unlocked with the remote. My truck did the same thing, but it just stopped working overnight and I wasn't able to lock it, so fortunately I didn't end-up in your situation. This is something the dealer has to fix...

Turn the key in the door cylinder and hold in unlocking position until the alarm turns off.

When I come back home, I'll try Ron suggestion. Tomorrow I'll have news.
Thanks.

Oh. Why such the difference between '95 and '96-on?

Another question... does anybody else's truck have a motion sensor inside that activates when the alarm is set by the remote? On my '95, when the remote was working, I could lock the doors with the windows down, wave my hand inside and set off the alarm. But, when I only used my key to lock it, it wouldn't do it. This was very repeatable, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a fluke. I've never found where a motion sensor would be mounted inside, though, and no manual I've looked in shows either.

Just curious...

I read in either the shop manual, owner's manual, or another such document (can't remember which one) that the remote activates the "volumetric sensor" but the key does not. The term could well refer to an air volume sensor.

I have a 96 Disco and it's supposed to have the same thing, but I have locked the doors using the remote while my dog is in the back, and she has never set off the sensor. I don't know if I simply don't have a working volume sensor or if it's a super-secret dog-proof sensor (Rovers like rovers!).

Well, problem solves ... by now.

I've tried RON suggestion and nothing happened. (95 ne 96 !)

Then I tried another approach:

Try A:
1-Disconnect the + cable from battery.
2-Reconnect the cabble
3-Watch the led (in console): blinking
4-Try to start ingnition: not success.

Try B:
1-Disconnect the + cable from battery.
2-Reconnect the cabble after +- 5 mn
3-Watch the led (in console): blinking
4-Try to start ingnition: not success.

Try C:
1-Disconnect the + cable from battery.
2-Reconnect the cabble after +- 15 mn
3-Watch the led (in console): on (continuosly)
4-Try to start ingnition: SUCCESS and the led goes off.

Now I lock/unlock doors just using just the key. Tomorrow I'll try to program the keyless command as told in FAQ.

Thanks again

Personally, I would leave the remote alone. After mine started acting-up, it couldn't be trusted to work, even with a new battery. But now that you know how to reset the alarm....
