Digging around in my 96' tonight at the fuse box area - is that the OBD II plug-in just above the gas pedal? I was previously thinking it was under the passenger seat - there's two plugs there - are they both for the cd player I don't have?

On 95's and older it's under the passenger seat. On 96's and newer it's under the hood.

Huh? Really? I thought it was the rectangular plug near the fusepanel cover. If that's not it, what is it? And if it's under the hood, where is it located? (98 Disco) Thanks.

OBDII diagnostic port on 96 and up is above your right leg just below the fusepanel cover.

Bill B. is right on with that. I use my OBD II port once in a while and it is just where he said.

Garret -
What kind of scan tool are you using? Do you find it accurate? I've been looking at this site http://www.obd-2.com/
with the thought of building my own interface and cable.

There are also there sites:

www.autoemf.com.au/obdii.htm

www.obdii.com/obdii.html

There are several to choose from: Actron, Mindreader, AutoXray and KAL. Depending on the harness that is supplied you may have to get a seperate one. They all perform the basic body, chasis, electrical codes. These just give me the codes and let me know roughly what the problem is. And you can clear the codes too if it is just something you know to be a reoccuruing non-issue. They are as accurate as I need them to be for the money I suppose. Saves you the $ than having someone else clearing your codes too. And some of the inexpensive Actron's can be had for under $100. Check eBay as they regularly have them for sale.

Stephen,
I stand corrected on the 96 and up. I'm also considering the same setup. Any other feedback on scan tools, interface cables and obdii software would be appreciated.
