HI

When I turn the ignition key, I can hear the clicking noise from the truck somewhere.

I can hear the fuel pump as usual, but after
5 seconds or so, this clicking noise stops.
( this clicking noise was not there years ago)
Apart from this, I have notice that on some odd
occasion, I can turn the ignition key, but the motor does not start, as in the start motor doesnt turn over but all the lights are on.
All I have to do is switch off, wait 5 seconds
and turn the key and she starts no problem.
Could these things be related.???

any ideas.???

thanks
Bill Hogan

I had a starter go bad on me once - Pathfinder - it just clicked for a few seconds and then finally turned over - It progressively got worse so I replaced it. Sometimes it just clicked over immediately. Don't know if this is your problem but......

Definitely your starter. From the is really expensive, there are others that you can get, you can also track down an imports part wholesaler that will make things a lot cheaper. Here is a number of a place that sells them I am not sure that they ship everywhere, they might. They are located in NJ. You may not get a good price unless you are a shop, if you know someone with a shop that you can have it shipped to that would be better. Parts for import: 1-800-582-7048 (may be 2048 I have bad handwriting) Good luck, -josh

As Joshua mentioned its definitely the starter. I have a 200 Tdi that did the same thing. I have this great repair shop in Cincinnati that can rebuild your starter for considerably less than any dealer.
If you are interested let me know and we can see if you can remove the starter and send it to him. It would be stil cost effective depending on where you are.

Thanks guys

I booked into a electrical repair shop next week
and get it done.

The dealer cost too much. I have been told
it was a locus murrelli unit...( eqivalent)

thanks again.
