Hi, guys
does anyone know if it can get really better articulation with the rear sway bar off when off-road? How much better, any experience?
also, where can I get a quick disconnect for the rear sway bar for Disco?
Thanks in advance

It makes a huge difference; I personally gained a lot more articulation. Just make sure you put it back before diving on the highway at 70 MPH.

You only get an extra inch or so of articulation by removing your rear anti-sway bar. The shocks limit the articulation in the rear. However, unhooking the rear anti-sway bar allows the rear wheels to work a little more independently of each other. This really does make quite a difference. RoverTym sells a set of quick disconnects for $85.00 that makes hooking and unhooking pretty simple. I have a set and they work fine.
For more articulation, add longer shocks, different shock mounts, and a drop kit. I've attached a picture.
Thanks,
Mike B.

Mike,
Nice looking rover. Can you email me with the details of your setup? Looking for ideas for my 95
Thx

I get similar articulation to the above Disco. Here's my setup:
OME HD Springs
Rancho 9207 front shocks
Rancho 9234 rear
Rovertym Upper shock mounts
Rovertym cones
Longer SS brake lines
Rear sway bar removed
My guess is that the above Disco has a similar setup. He could have 2" Rovertym springs.
I don't feel uncomfortable driving without the swaybar at 70mph. In fact, I don't even notice a difference. Maybe the HD springs in the rear help.

mike, can't tell difference at 70 mph?
it's not the HD springs.
it's the driving.
some drive like maniacs. and some don't.
if you don't, you won't notice a difference even at 100 mph.

True I have no swaybars on my Disco. I have OME HD's front and rear. At 100 miles an hour the other day no problem at all. The only limitation was with the mud tires. really not speed rated.

The front sway bar does most of the work, anyhow ---& you don't, necessarily, need them (granted, they are helpful in emergency lane changes).
. . . (side note: the '89 (or was it '88) Range Rover Hunter editions didn't even come with sway bars)

The picture above is from my Disco. The earlier post was pretty much right on. I have the following setup:
Rancho 9207 front shocks
Rancho 9234 rear
RoverTym upper shock mounts
RoverTym cones
RoverTym 2" springs
RoverTym quick disconnects in the rear
SafariGard 3.5" bump stops
I have the SafariGard stainless steel brake lines on order.
Although not shown in the picture, I also have as set of 245/75/R16 Goodyear MTRs on 16" steel rims. It's a little wobbly at 70mph, even with both anti-sway bars on. It got worse with the new tires. I plan to adjust the shocks to see if that helps.
Thanks,
Mike B.

I really appreciate it for all your inputs. I'll try it with the sway bar off see how it works. Thanks.
