I've liked the discovery for a number of years but couldn't find one in my price range. A 1994 showed up, with 91k - one owner. is there anything i should be looking out for? owned by a suburban mom who was the primary driver and did no off roading...

Has the transmission oil and filter been changed every 30k miles?
Has the oil been changed every 3-5k miles?
Has the antifreeze been changed at 60k?
Does it look like theres alot of oil leaking from the drivers side in the front area (powersteering pump, may not leave a drip but it may have oil on the axle and other areas just underneath the pump)?
I owned a 94. The powersteering was going out at around 97k miles. It was totaled before I could find out how much it was going to cost.
The key is to find one that's had all of it's weak points replaced or upgraded.
Get the maintenance history. Fixing things can cost you more than the cars worth in no time.

It's a Brittish car that does great off-road.

As long as it has been maintained, I would say go for it if the price is right. If you are reasonably handy and can do some routine maintenance and repairs yourself, you should be ok
