I read in a previous technical discussion (which I can't seem to locate) someone mentioning putting an LS-1 into a Disco with an adapter. Does anyone recall this conversation? If so, who made the adapter, Advanced Adapters? I found a source for a turnkey LS-1 for about $6400. I am thinking about the upgrade, but would like some feedback from others on the work required. (i.e. motor mounts, exhaust, A/C, Heater, etc.)

Overfinch does this. You can also get 700 or NV4500 to LT230 adaptors which would allow you to swap in the 350/700 or 350/nv4500.

im working on the same thing but into a 94 LWB. The project hasnt been started yet, but all the parts are there. I didnt personally get the adapter, but i belive it is an Advanced Adapters. Is that motor new? i found an LT-1 from a 96 Z28 with 30K including ECU for under 3 grand. Custom exhaust and motor mounts are a definite. Overfinch does a ton of these conversions, i never been to their site, but it may have some useful info...good luck

The stuff sold by Advance Adapters is also available from the Aussie company that makes it.

The adaptor sold by Advance is made by Marks 4WD in Australia.
Sounds like your LS-1 costs about the same as a new 4.6 RPi long block with a chip (assuming you have a 14cux ECU) which will just bolt right in to your Disco without all the retrofitting. Although the 4.6 doesn't have all the power of the Chevy motor, are you sure your transmission is up to the task?
I put an RPi 4.6 in my '95 Disc. and have been quite happy with it. Although it's no hot rod, it's a big improvement over the 3.9.

too much trouble for the money....
My experience revolves around corvette motors in jaguars and it's a pain in the ass. When you can get a 4.6 and it keeps your rover all rovah then keep it. Converted vehicles are harder to resell and sometimes get horrible prices. Technically not emissions legal, since the ls-1 was never a rover engine(this is a moot point if you live in the boonies, just paint rover on the valve covers). Unserviceable except for a few specialty shops. If you plan to off-road this vehicle a heavy duty front axle/spring combo is a must. Not to mention little things like A/C, electrical wiring, fuel pump and regulator, proper cooling.
If you do it ask for a complete kit:everything that attaches to the engine not just mounts and a tranny adapter.
