Hey guys this seems like a board I can hang out on. I just replaced my explorer with a Disco . I have been building Scout IIs for the last 20 years for use on the rubicon and needed a new daily driver. Be easy on me, I thought that coils were something you found on a TJ! I'm looking forward to making my disco more trail ready, with your help of course. Bob Stockton Ca 96 Disco

Bob, welcome to the Land Rover world. Here, you will realize how crazy and fanatic Land Rover owners get. Enjoy!!! Where in CA are you? I just moved from Florida to Irvine.

Robert,
Dont discourage. Most of the people on the DISCOWEB.ORG hang out at the Technical section. Go there and post your newbie message, youll be surprise with the amount of responses you will get. How far is Stockton from Irvine?

You will find alot of information on this site that will help you. Good luck on your future mods. it is never ending alot of very nice toy for your Disco out there.
Sorry again (One hell of a Brain Fart on my part)

Robert: Take a good look at the photogallery and you'll start to learn what people have been doing to their Discoveries.
BTW, Land Rover introduced coil springs with the original Range Rover back in 1970 - a long time before the tj -

Hi Bob,
As Jose said, we're usually over on the Technical board... didn't mean to make you feel like you were left out in the cold.
Head to the technical board, and fire away with questions and you'll get a lot of opinions!
Best o' luck,
-Leslie

Welcome to the club Robert! As JCabrera said, you'll soon discover how fanatics people can be to their beloved Discos. This is a very addictive place to hangout. I hang out here from 9-5 in the office and usually at night too. Luckily my boss doesn't drive a rover otherwise he'll probably see my posts here.
Anyway, enjoy your Disco and have fun in the places that it'll take you!
P.S. Send your adventure pics to Ho and he'll make you a gallery.

Yo Robert,
Welcome to Disco Land. If you live in Stockton, welcome to the area. I live in Dublin, but work in south Stockton near French Camp Road. You will soon realize the wise decision you made for your daily and weekend driver. I have a '95 Disco with 111,000 miles with no problems. I am in the process of advancing the capabilities of my Disco, slowly I might add, so let me know if you want to work on them sometime. Just e-amil me.

Welcome to the world of spending money. You'll soon find out that it's not cheap to own a LR. You'll always want something new for it, or you'll want to buy another one for "on-road"

Robert,
You will find Disco owners are very passionate about their trucks. Welcome to the club. To show you how passionate it is fun to go to the technical section and post a message like "aren't all winches the same if not which is best?"

Robert,
These guys are not snobby - far from it, in fact - you were just in the wrong place (everyone seems to be on technical board). I am a REAL newbie with very little 4X4 experence at all, and I juist got my first Discovery about a month ago. Since then I have been peppering these guys with all kinds of what must be the most naive and annoying questions and I have met with nothing but help and enthusiasm (guess they can tell I am in love). Give them another chance and you will see - they are great.

I am a newbie too, living in Sweden, and recently purchased a 98 Disco xs tdi automatic. And it's really fabulous - I love it. I guess I'll become a fanatic as well... Guess you could compare LR fans to Beatles, Beach Boys fans etc.... ;-)
Cheers,
