I've got BFG A/T KO 245 75 16's on my D1 with about 1" lift.
Had to adjust the steering stops a bit and trim the bottom rear corner of the rear wheel arches.
I also pulled the wheel arches out a bit (from the rear) which has helped them stop rubbing. The steel panel behind the wheel which holds the mud flaps sometimes rubs against the tyres. Apparently some have them removed, cut & re-welded with less of a bend in them then no more rubbing!
The tyres are heaps better all around for traction etc than the original 205 80 R16 Michelin XPC's. Only a slight loss in acceleration/torque noticed because of the larger diameter. Also a very tough tyre the 245 75 - that is 120 load rating etc - I don't think the 255 70's are anywhere near as rugged a tyre - probably better as a "roader".

I have the 245 75 BFG M/T and they've done the job with no trimming (some steering stop adjustment, of course) with the OME HD setup (about 2" lift). Mine are wearing down pretty good so I am in the market for new set of 235 85 (32" tire) to fill up the gap and give me some more room under the diff. Better break out the saw-zall for the rear fenders...

thanks guys-

i did some reseach myself on diameters etc - and ditched the idea of the 255. now i'm down to the 215-85-16 or the 245-75-16, and am actually leaning towards the 215's. already talked to one board member about it, and it seems pretty positive.

I went away from the 215 85's as I found some reports which indicated that at speed on road they can be a bit average i.e. steering & handling problems - but apparently off road they are pretty good.
