Are there any electrical components to the differential? I read a couple other posts referring to the solenoid. Is this electrical? I'm having some problems w/ my diff. but it seems that if I can't get it in, and turn the truck off then restart I will then be able to get it into low. Could there be an electrical issue or is it just coincidence that I can get it into gear after I restart?
Also, is there a true H pattern in the diff. Will the hi's lock into a spot or just be in the middle position? Mine won't pull back and lock into a hi position but the truck runs fine so it must be in hi. I called a buddy last night who has a D-90 and he thought he just left his in the N position when not in low (he's got several cars and so doesn't drive the D-90 much).
Sorry for these questions, newly purchased and haven't found a Haynes, plus the dipshits lost the owners manual so I'm flying pretty blind.
Thanks again,
Lynden

Depends which Diff. you are talking about. The front and rear Diff. do not have any electronics in them. The center (centre, hehehehe) diff. do have some electronics in it, the center diff. is also your transfer case. Check out the "Discovery" section of this website. As for shifting between Hi/Low, try shifting while you are rolling. Go on a gentle hill, put the transmission in nuetral (N) and let your foot off the brake. The truck will start to roll just a little bit. Then, shift into low REAL fast. Hope this helps.
