What is the correct tire pressure for my stock 235/70/R16 Michelins on a 1995 Discovery. The LR dealer installed them at 36 psi all around, my LR owner's manual says 34 back/26 front and my Haynes workshop manual says 33 back/26 front. I am inclined to go with 34/26, but wanted to see what you guys had to say.

Thanks in advance,
-Marc

go with the 26 front 34 back like it says in the owners manual and on the drivers door jam sticker.

I usually go w/ +2lb, so 28/36 on pavement, helps gas milage a tiny bit.

BTW, convention is that you list t.p. as front first/rear last.

What is the reasoning behind the different tire pressures f/r? I just put some Mich 235/70/R16 XCLT (?) on my 96 D1 last weekend. The shop set them all up at full pressure (35psi).

I am curious if the mixed pressure f/r is primarily for off-road, or for on as well. I have always thought running that low would put unneeded wear on your low tires. I understand lowering pressure a bit off road for various reasons, but again, why not consistent all around?

Curious,

Its on-road handling related. Definately, run them with the differential in tire pressure.
