Im planning on tackleing my rear wheel bearings this week. I have looked over the directions under "tech" and it looks pretty straight forward.Im new to my own maintenence for my truck, so I was woundering two things...

1. are there any tips that will make it easier for me to do, like special tools that work better than other? ect ect...
2. I woudl like to do both sides completely; what parts do i need to order?

thanks in advance...joshua

You need two axle oil seals, two tab washers, and 4 sets of wheel bearings (timken set 37, about $15 at an auto parts store) for each axle.

Tools that you will find useful: largish drift punch, SEAL PULLER, 2-1/16 SOCKET, TORQUE WRENCH, 13mm 12 PT SOCKET, cold chisel. Stuff in caps is especially handy for this job, especially the seal puller.

Get some blue locktite, and a tube of Hylomar HPF to use on the axle flanges (or just buy a flange washer--paper gasket--from the dealer... I prefer the blue goo myself).

Nah, it's all pretty basic. Just follow the steps in the manual, take your time, and you'll have no problems. You might also invest in a universal bearing packer if you want to avoid getting your hands really dirty.

If you check back and find where I explained how to do the front brakes a couple of months or so ago, you would find that it'd be the same, 'cept worrying with the pads and the rotor itself. If 'I' can do it, you can....
