Does anyone carry a fire extinguisher in their truck full-time? I recently bought one and the instructions do not recommend storing in a vehicle subject to high temperatures (Like Phoenix 80% of the year, 116 degrees earlier this week). I want to have a little protection, car-beques are fairly common here, but do not want the experience of cleaning the truck up after a chemical explosion. Thanks in advance.

I keep a small one under the driver's seat.

I just recently purchased a Kidde Dry Chemical extinguisher. I have it mounted on the exterior side of the driver's footwell. It is out of direct sunlight, and easy to reach in the event of a fire. The extinguisher says not to store above 120 degrees F. but I have yet to see the interior temperature reach above 100 in the footwell.

If you have a digital thermometer, attempt to see what the temperature reaches on a hot day in an area out of direct sunlight. If it does not reach aboce 100 degrees F. then you should be fine.

I keep my fire extinguisher in the storage compartments in the back of my Disco in a cardboard box (keeps it from rattling around). In the 20 years I've lived in Florida, I have never had a problem carrying a fire extinguisher in any of my vehicles.

Thanks,
Mike B.

I mounted one on the top of the rear sub (parallel to the sub) in the back on the tailgate just below the long handle. This way it is accessible enough and i would never have to worry about it exploding near me or any passengers.
