Could someone tell me what a "siped" (sipe?) tire is? I have heard about these and do not know about them.

Also, what is a coil-over suspension? I am dumbfounded (I've been finding myself like that a lot lately, Hopefully just a one month thing again).

Thank you for your future input

"siping" are the little "cuts" in the tires tread that you see. you see lots of siping on winter tires, but most tires have some siping. you can even have this done to your tires if they do not have any when you buy them. some tires places will sipe your tires. a great benefit for snow and wet driving.

coil over is basically what it may sound like. a suspension with the springs on the outside of your shocks. like that of a Disovery's front set up. the spring actually slides overtop of the shock.

don't worry about asking questions. soon enough you will be anwering some newbees question.

John Sipe, an englishman, found that his shoes stuck better to the deck of his ship if he cut little slits in the bottom. Same thing works for tires. Garrent is right on the money with this one.

A coil over suspension is where the coil spring and shock are esentially one unit rather than independent units with seperate mounts. Discos are coil sprung but to call them coil over would be incorrect.
