I have a 95 Disco and the alternator is not charging. I have checked the exciting voltage and it is correct. The logical conclusion is the alternator is bad. However, I removed it, tested it and it works fine. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

i had this issue once and ended up replacing a good alternator when there was not need for it. it ended up that my belt was not routed properly. this is fairly common if installed by someone that is not familiar with the routing. also a slipping belt and even a non genuine LR belt can do this. usually you will hear squealing from time to time. especially if it gets a little wet or damp. make sure your grounds and all other connections are good.
