Just wanted to know where people go for oil changes. LR Manhattan wants $92 bucks for a change with fluid top offs. This seems a little high. Does anybody go to Pep Boys or something?

Pep Boys and those other places can do it, but they often don't have a filter. Buy your own filters and bring them with. You may also want to replace the copper drain plug, but many folks don't bother. If you want to, you can order them from a place like atlanticbritish.com for cheap.

92 bucks... People pay that? What is that? They take you to lunch at a nice restaurant or a massage or some thing while they are doing it? Ouch.. Would hate to see what they charge for other things like say a brake job or 30,000 mile service. Anyway, I have been only paying 40 bucks at LR Alexandria, VA they top the fluids, wash and vacuum. I could just do it myself but, some times it can be a pain getting rid of the used oil. Also, I like to have it in their computer that I have been getting regular maint done in case of a warrenty repair.

BlueGil posted this same question a few weeks back. do a search and you will see about 30+ responses on what folks pay around the country. $92......that is a crime for sure. i pay like $35 at valvoline when i am feeling really lazy.......and yes they top off and all the other basics.

Discoguy,

If you cross the bridge or tunnel over to Jersey, there's a place called "That 10 minute oil change place" (seriously, that's the name) in Lyndhurst(Off of route 3) and they do it for 44.00+tax Mobil 1 or 24.95+tax regular oil. That includes all fluids topped off, tires aired to desired pressure and car vacuumed. I buy LR filters from my dealer and they give me $5.00 credit towards my oilchange bill.

If only the owner of that place sees this, I should get a free one next time.

ooopsss... I forgot, if you do it in Jersey, you have to add the stupid $6.00 toll to get back to Manhattan.

Yeah, actually I live in Jersey. I'm going to just buy the filters from the dealer, give him the finger and go elsewhere.
BTW-I called LR Woodbridge in Jersey to compare and they laughed when I said 92 bucks. They charge 49. I told him they top of fluids as well, he said fluid top offs shouldn't cost an extra 40 bucks. Washer fluid is 2.99.

i can sympathize with you for paying such an outrageous amount for an oil change ,but considering what part of the world your in shouldn't that be expected. unless your real talented and can change you oil in a parking space on park ave what else are you going to do.not to mention you live in a city that charges a cover charge just to get in to the place.i'm not siding with the dealer on this ,but pay the rent up there sometime and you may agree with there fees.

I get an oil change every 3000 miles on my '99 Disco II - at the local Goodyear Svc Center. They never charge more than $20 for L,O,F AND they get the filter from LR of Ft. Lauderdale! $92 bucks for an oil change - guess that goes along with a $15 burger. Nu Yawk - gotta love it!

Just had a genuine LR Cincinnati oil change with a wash for $54.00 even. Normally I would do it myself but I am keeping on them to fix a few things reported during warranty but not yet fixed now that it is out of warranty.

Hopefully it won't take them to long.
