There are a lot more CDs sitting around the car, mostly Metallica, Megadeth, and compilation stuff. I am going to get a MD 6-disc changer some time. I like MDs a lot better than CDs because they don't skip when hittin' the trails and they are more compact.

cmon man, has it been that long since your twenties? a binger is a bong, used for illegal narcotic comsumption. it would seem to fit right in with your musical selections...:)

i like eric and chrisvonc's choices. Morpheus is much better and faster (for me) than Napster. I've been using it for a few months now and I've found all kinds of stuff. I especially like the fact that it allows you to search for all different file types. It's great for finding obscure music videos :)

it remebers who you are downloading off of so if you quit in the middle it can resume whenever that person is online again.

i still don't have a cd changer!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By ARog on Thursday, July 12, 2001 - 07:28 am: Edit

Morpheus is a napster type service where you can download/trade all types of files; mp3's, movies, pictures, programs..a whole bunch of stuff. It is a little more complex than napster is, but still user friendly. One problem that deters a few people is that it is constantly on, you cannot turn it off. So if you have a cable or other such connection where you are always online, then when your computer is on, you are logged on Morpheus, kinda scary. You can disconnect, but it will probably reconnect for you. The only way to turn it off is to turn off the computer. But, I haven't had a problem.
Oh, and it's not been cracked down on yet so you can find a hell of a lot more stuff than you can on napster...until it gets caught. To get it just go to any search engine and search 'Morpheus'.

Hmmm.....

At the moment, it's all Tori Amos because my buddy who rides to work with me hadn't heard her before...

Usually, though:

1)Seven Nations - Old Ground (celtic rock, aka rock w/ bagpipes)
2)Mackeel - Mackeel (kick-ass celtic rock)
3)Kilt - Kilt (mellow celtic rock)
4)Led Zeppelin - BBC Sessions
5)Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
6)Clapton - Disc 2 from the Crossroads boxset

Also, will have assorted REM, G-n-R, Live, Clandestine (celtic folk), Beatles (1), Metallica, Police, Allman Brothers, Jewel, other Zeppelin and Floyd and Clapton, Black Crowes, Hendrix...

Need to add Blink-182, Creed, more older Van Halen, Foo Fighters, Everclear, etc...

Excuse my ignorance. I see some with 10, 16 CD changers. Where do you get them? What kind? I refuse to pay $600+ for LR genuine CD Changer. Please enlighten me with options

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Eric N (Grnrvr) on Thursday, July 12, 2001 - 11:20 am: Edit

Well you could always swap out the head unit for a new one and then get the CD changer that works with that. I plan on swapping out the head unit for one that has a "line in" jack so that I can connect my portable NEO Juke box to it and have a 500+ CD changer.

I listed the 16 CD's that fit in the center console (lined up on their edges so you can read the titles). I'm still old fashioned and have a single in-dash CD player...try as I might, I can only listen to one CD at a time. I've had this Sony for over 8 years in 3 different vehicles and it only cost me $350 new...

I have a question. I have a 6-disc CD changer in my disco1. I want to get an MD player in it. Can I change the head unit to a single MD player and still have the CD changer?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Glenn Guinto (Glenn) on Friday, July 13, 2001 - 04:31 am: Edit

Jcabrera,

I swapped out my LR head unit and bought a sony es from the outlet store. I must say I got it for a real bargain ($135) considering it's an ES series. It has a sliding face plate which reveals a cassette player (remember those?). Then santa gave me a sony 10 disc CD changer for christmas which fits snuggly under the passenger seat. I believe that one cost santa roughly 200 bucks. So for less than 400, I got a complete package. Good luck! Let me know which route you took.

MA,

Go for the FM mod, keep the factory 6 disc changer, the factor deck and stuff a Sony MDX65 in the center console - it fits perfectly side ways. Just run a wire from the deck through the center console and you are done. Sound quality isn't going to be digital but it's not bad!

If I was to do it all over again ... I would go for the Nacamichi 6 disc head unit and keep the MD player but I would rather spend the bank on RT suspension.

BTW,
i couldnt help but notice a previous complaint about missing napster.... check it out: go to http://www.download.com and search for a program called limewire. it uses the new gnutella network, which is similar to the old napster network, except tht folks also trade programs and full length movies on it. the beauty is that no company is affliliated with the network, so there is no risk of court imposed shutdowns. since i got it a few months ago, my mp3 collection has grown to about 12 gb! you'll find more quicker than you ever did with napster!

cheers!!
