OK - driving down the road - AC going full-bore - AC quits (no fan, no nothin') - I hit the button - AC starts back up - about 2 miles later, same thing.

New one on me, but it might be significant that it was the hottest day yet since I bought my Disco (96 f, 100+ with heat index)

Thanks in advance for any help,
-Marc

mine has done this occasionally during really hot days - wonder if it might be belt-related, or somehow related to heat sensor somewhere? I thought it was due to sticky switch (pop spilled from drinkholders into switches), but it's happened once since I cleaned all the switches. I try not to think about it, since I'd have to have the dealer look at it :(.

It happens to me also and Gabe (jet) It just stops and starts up again right when I'm reaching the fan control to move it. Go figure.

Happens to me w/ heat or air conditioning with the fan on the highest setting. It will stay off for a minute or so and come back on. At first I thought it might be an internal thermostat of some sort that would turn it down automatically if reached a certain temperature because it always seems to happen when I have been running the fan on high for several minutes. Been bugging me for a while.......

Mine has the same problem. I think though that its the fan switch right on the console. Sometimes it doesn't go into 4 all the way and gets stuck in between and shuts off. Just play with it in one direction and it should work right away. Check it out before you go underneath!!!. By the way, this happened right after I bought the car a year ago and I thought the worst.

I had the same problem on my 96 Disco SE when I reached 66986 miles.
I took it in (thank you extended warranty, $50 out of my pocket) and they replaced the Control Head unit.
Part number "AWR7154 = CONTROL, HVA". $124.43
Labor $210 ($75/hour)
... Never had that problem since.
