These days I don't have to commute to work so my 96 Disco sits for as long as three days at the time without been started. Why is it that after three days, it is harder to start?

I have a 96 and last winter in CO, when I was up in the mountains skiing, The LR would start straight away in the morning, but if you switched the engine off within a couple of minutes of start up, you could not restart for 10 to 15 minutes.
As I tell everybody that the LR is the best vehicle for any environment, it was a little embarassing. Even my wife laughed..........
