My mirror on a 97 disco just failed, not leaking, but the face is becoming discolered. Replacement mirrors are expensive, over $200, so I am looking for an alternative. Really do not see the need for an auto dimming mirror using a LCD screen.

Anyone have some advise on a replacement?

Thanks

Bob in Atlanta

these fail quite a bit for some reason. they are made my Connelly. least most of them are. mine crapped out one night and took a dump all over my dash. be careful......that black goo is bad stuff and will eat up your dash if not cleaned up immediately. i would just replace it with a non auto dimming mirror. or get a cheaper one from J.C. Whitney catalog online. just be careful removing the old metal 'button' on the windshield. use a hair dryer or something to warm it up. i have heard of people breaking their windshield trying to pry it off. i see no need for 'extras' like this. mine is still screwed up and i just deal.

Thanks GP, I have heard now that the early model Discovery's used basic mirrors so I will check this first.
