So, you've been muddin' all weekend, and nobody can tell the color of your disco any more. Right - wash time. Is it safe to power-wash the underside, or would a bit of scrubbing with a normal hose pipe be better? I don't want to knock the grease out of anything important, or swamp the electonics.

I am no mechanic, but have soaked the shit out of the underside of my D1 and spend 10 bucks in quarters doing many times it without any problems to date. Some advice on this and the engine bay would be to avoid the manifolds when they are hot as they can crack.

Just watch where you're directing the hi-pressure stream.

Areas where fluids can leak out are also places where water can get in if you blast them with enough PSI and some of those hi pressure hoses are really up there too!

Not many "water proofed" parts are designed to protect from a hi-pressure direct application.

If you have decent pressure on a hose...hook it into a garden/yard sprinkler and leave it under the vehicle for a bit..
