Can someone elaborate on where EXACTLY this headlamp washer relay is on a 96 Disco (gas) AND what it looks like (generally, I know they look lie a lil upside-down bucket). There's no view in that pssgr. "facia" area and nothing obvious. The Haynes says: "behind pssgr facia". that's IT!
I'd like to find it and buy another one (Crabtree - and maybe just buy it first and find the old one that way -- by looking @ the new).
Anyway, the hoses are NOT clogged as typicall suggested, new motor (wasn't the problem) and I'm banking on it being the relay.
Please suggest.
Thanks.

C'mon guys, lets not let the good man down. I'm stumped as to this one, but SOMEONE of us must be an electrical LR Superhero? I'm curious as well?

Just a quick suggestion. Make sure your headlights are turned on when testing the headlight washers. The washers only work when the lights are on, presumably to save on washer fluid.
Good Luck,
Buck.

Checked it - Thanks. Problem seems to be the relay (its difft. from the main one) - But the Haynes says "Look for needle in haystack) -- and the kicker is they forget to even tell you (nevermind illustrate) what the needle looks like!
Doh!

I quickly looked in my shop manual. Didn't find anything obvious but the plug in on the back of the washer bottle, the middle one looked to be the headlight one, looked rather large, with a plug in from the steering column switch. Maybe it is more than just a pump?
I will look at the manual again later and see if I see anything else.

You have the prized REAL MANUAL (insert genuflecting music). Well, the Haynes says its behind the pssgr. dash facia. Then again, they They've been 100% INACCURATE thus far.

If you are looking for the relays, they are located behind the passenger footwell fascia (As per Haynes). If you remove the bottom of the covering from underneath the dashboard, you will be able to see better. Once that is done, the relays are situated in a relay bank near the ECU. You will need to reach up and unscrew the mounting screw. Once you do, the relay panel will swing down.
Please note that I had to do this when I installed the DRLs (Daytime running light relay) on my 98 Disco.

Steven,
I've taken off the fascia before. there's a spaghetti mess of wires. Can you tell me WHERE the Relays are (fore/aft, left/right) and what they look like (round cannisters? Squares? Colors?).
Thanks.

The relays are located adjacent to the ECU. They are very far forward. Very close to the bulkhead on the right. When looking up, you will see the bottom of the glove. On the right, and up you will see a row of rectangular relays. There should be an open relay for the DRLS. I don't remember the colors unfortuanately.
Did you take off the buttom panel which serves as a knee bolster? That panel needs to be removed to give you more room to work. I can take some digital pictures of the relays for you, and post them tomorrow if that would help you locate them.

No Thanks Steven, you're too kind. You've given us plenty to go on.
Thanks.
