ok...listen folks....if you buy a fuel additive to make up the differnces between 89 and 92+ are you really saving money...add it up, the difference here in Ohio between the two is about .20 cents. for every ten gallons thats $2.00. fuel addictive run from about $5.00 for the snake oil to who knows how much for the stuff that really works. oh, these cans of additives rarely treat an entire 25 gallons of fuel either. so heres the math: allowing that you never run less than 20 gallons between fill ups your loss between the 89-92 octane is .....$4.00 (approx), fuel additives to treat 20 gallons $10.00 (approx) so where does that leave us in this battle to save a buck. well you make the choice i will continue to use the 92 and pay the differences. good luck!

As a matter of fact, the lead additive was under $10 and enough to treat 320 gallons of gas. That's right 320 gallons...................

yea but,
1.its just lead...its for the valves and nothin more.
2. its not legal for street and it is limited to off highway use. (yes i know you can put it in there and who would know.)
3.it will ruin your cats.(that can be costly)
4. your injectors ablities to spit it out for any length of time is questionable. (they may become damaged and thats is even more expensive)
paul i am not trying to be a professor here, but lead will not on its own help your engine digest 87 octane fuel. 108 octane boost and similar additive are limited in there ablities and they are costly. just but the 92 gas and save the space you would use to carry all those bottles. then again i may be completely wrong. let me know how it goes.
