So, you're swamping in the Pine Barrens - do you have the chest-high waders, or will the thigh-highs be adequate?

I know, but I come from the land of the land rover, so I am not too familiar with this country and where to go and what I can get away with. Feel free to enlighten me if you know anywhere else around here.

Just a little note - did you know LRs are cheaper here than in England? Its the tax!

The barrens are pretty cool but watch out for the pitfalls,,,they are abundant... I made that statement cause I saw the numerous posts about the barrens you had made..

I got my wife a set of chest high waders for when I send her in. You could need them once in a while.

also good for when the B.S. gets deep around the fire...

Kyle,
Are there any pitfalls or places in particular to be avoided? Or are you just speaking in general terms of the kind of things that come out of nowhere and bite you. For myself, and I think for Dean too, there's not a whole lot of places around to go that are as easy and as accessible as the barrens.

Last week I saw a rattle snake sprawled across a road there, and another gray snake bombing it across another road. We had to throw sticks at the rattler to get it to move out of the way. Are there any bears?
Kyle - what pitfalls?

The locals that run the barrens wear some pretty big shoes and create some nasty holes here and there. A little short section of water can look harmless but be 3 feet deep. Just walk the things before diving in or atlease poke arond in there with a stick. its nice to have a dipstick (Person willing to bail in) with you at all times...
Perhaps Ax and I will meet up with you guys for a day run in there..

Kyle - yes I found a few of those pitfalls yesterday - you are right, short 'puddles' end up being 3 feet deep. I stalled in one, and checked out the air filter housing (which had just a little water in it) before restarting ok, but hell I was nervous!

Ps we didn't stall in the first photo (last message, above) - it was a smaller but deeper one. The bugger!
Steve is on the left, then me, the Chad on the right

Yes, I am quite proud of my bow wave skills!
You can see Steve hanging on the back of the roof rack ducking out of the way as the water was about to come over the roof.

Kyle
Yes, it would be great to see how you guys do this kinda stuff - the amateurs might need a tow out, you never know!
Let me know when you head back there - could be interesting.
