still decieding on tire sizes - however, with a mild 1" ome lift - is it the height or the width of a larger tire that necessitaes trimming?

i can't go too high due to parking considerations, and i really don't want to loose torque. looking at tire specs, a 255/70-16 is only an inch OAL taller than stock (so half inch rise in vehicle height), but slightly less than an inch wider. the load rating is identical to stock. am i asking for trouble with this size? the truck is 95% hwy with light off roading, overland expedition in mind.
