I just bought a 1997 discovery XD. I want to put a lift on it so i can put new bigger tires on it. When lifting it i dont want to extend the driveshaft or anthing i just want it to be the simplest and cheapest. I was thinking of the rovertyme 2 inch lift. As for tires i was thinking 245/75 uniroyal laredo lugs or bf goodrich 235/85R16. Can anyone give me advice on lifting it and adding tires. Thanks.

You can go with RT lift weather you will have any driveline vibe it is hard too say some do some don't. I think OME MD's will give you about 1.5" to 1.75".then you should not have a driveline problem. I run BM 2" springs and I have a slight vibe. Surf the tech section on tires that will give you a idea on how the tires will fit.
Good Luck

I run OME HD 751 in front and OME very HD 763 in the back with 245 75 r16 BF Goodrich Mud Terrains and I have no driveline vibes. I want to go to 235 85s but fear the loss in power will too great. 4.10 gears would solve that, but I wouldn't know where to start with that installation...
Good luck wid it.

Order prebuilt third members. Makes the install pretty easy. And youcan get lockers at the same time, what a bonus!

Go to the Tech section click on suspension then at the top you will see lift & measurements. That will give you an idea.
Where to buy I feel trere is only one place that should be Expidition Exchange Ho is part owner and he is one of the men that bring us this wonderful web site.

I have looked on the tech section about the lifts and some of it was helpful, but i am still lost. I just want the cheapest and easiest way to lift the disco.

OK You want cheap but great quality. You can just replace your spings I would go with OME they will give you enough lift to fit your tires you want and should not cause you any driveline problems. Like I said in my earlier post Expedition Exchange (go to resources click on vendors) they have OME springs for $60each that is about as cheap as you can get for a great spring. Then down the road you can do your shocks and your spings will still be good (as long you don't beat them )
If you get on EE web page scroll down the whole way when your looking at Old Man Emu stuff they have a application and selection guide
Hope this will help
OME OME OME @ EE EE EE try a little brain washing here Hope it works

A third member is your Diff. where the ring &pinion are if you unhook your drive shaft unbolt the bolts at the pumkin then you can pull you third member off. go to tech section scroll down to ARB locker install you will see the third member.
I wish it was a third person that will pay for all the Disco toys I want But no luck.
Where are you located at

OME does great stuff I ended up with LRNA based lift and Bilsteins. Recommend you replace the shocks too. Tires? 245/75 make many people happy I run 750/16 MT and except for a long gradual uphill for a mile or two (65mph limit) after a toll booth don't think it s struggles too much to handle the taller tire

Andrew,
I would call John at Rover Tym. Tell him you want to do a bit (2"lift) at a time and cheep. I have never heard anything bad about John or his products. I have however talked to people that have had problems with OME springs. In fact, the owner of Rovers North stopped selling OME because of customer complaints. I know there are many on this site that are happy with them, it's just something to consider. You can fit 235/85s with the RT 2" lift but you will want gears ($800+). If you don't want to do gears for a year or two, go with 245/75s. I think you are on the right track with your first question at the top of this line.
Good Luck and have fun!
