Is anyone currently using the Auto Advantage Warranty from Hal Moses? I am considering the 2yr/24k bumper-to-bumper and I sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Any comments would be appreciated before I spend my $1,300.00.

do a search on Auto Advatage on this site. I wrote a book a few days back on this. In short: yes they/he is good and i have had no problems with them for the second warranty purchased through him. One was API the other Buyers Choice.

I have a Buyer's Choice warranty that I bought when I got my Disco. I was happy when I read the recent message about B.C. being a good company. I have not had to make a claim to it yet, so no personal experience there. Thier reps have been great on the phone, however, when I have had to deal with them trying to find out exactly what type of warrenty coverage I had. I was told I was buying a Wynn's warrenty but the dealership pulled a "bait and switch" on me. I had no problem with the fact that he set me up with a Buyer's Choice, but was extremely peeved that it was done w/out telling me, and I'm still trying to get the zero deductible I paid...another story.

Thanks for the input. Since one of you mentioned searching for the topic, how do I do that. I can't seem to find the link to search this board...
Thanks,
A

go to 'utilities' folder and under that you will see 'keyword search'. this is just to the left of this message. type in 'auto advantage' or whatever you are looking for.

I did go back and read the archived posts on the auto advantage program, and I even got the coverage details e-mailed from the company. Nothing is mentioned about things like o2 sensors or the cat...Has anyone had problems with these? If so were they covered? These are the things that I think are relatively and not cheap either.
thanks
p.s. I will be using the buyer's choice

depending on what year your discovery is some have 4 O2 sensors. they can be pricey too. but i would think a bumper to bumper would cover that. i know mine does not cover stuff like that. most don't i think. the exhaust manifolds can and do break. my '94 did. i just had it rewelded for about $100. check about getting the API one. they pay the service folks directly......BC you have to pay and then BC will repay you a week or so later.

thanks,
I do have 4 sensors.

My warranty will pay the shop directly which is a good thing. I'll have to see about the exhaust system coverage. I am guessing you do not have bumper to bumper since your program doesn't cover the sensors.

Watch out for Auto Advantage! I bought the $1,300.00 warrantly at the end of last year from Hal Moses. I've tried (through my local LR dealer) to make two claims for things that should be (according to the contract) covered.

First, It took forever to get in contact with the underwriter. When the dealer did, it took another day for them to get back with him. He said this happens frequently with third party warr. You have to play the waiting game while your car sits.

They refused to cover both claims. My dealer said
this is typical. He also said although it can happen, major engine problems are rare in a well cared for Land Rover. (oil changed, engine checked, inspections...)We are in PA and my dealer is very reputable and have been selling Rovers for many years.

He also said the only GOOD warranty is the one from LR. I believe him.

Looking back, I should have put the money in the bank. It would have been more than enough to cover the work I had to have done. My 96 LR (66,000) is running fine and is well maintained.

So Far, I feel I wasted $1,300.00 on a useless warranty.

What were the problems you had with your truck?
It sounds like the big broblems are mostly covered with the bumper to bumper...
