Just cleaned off the corrosion off my battery terminals with a water and baking soda solution (worked great).

Now I want to insulate the terminals.

I've got some "silicon grease" for o-rings. Will that work? Won't cause a fire, will it?

Vaseline works pretty good.

All I got that's greasy is silicon o-ring grease. Will that work?

I also have butter in the fridge.

As Stephen posted - Vaseline works OK - if you want the real thing - you can get silicone di-electric grease at an auto parts store. (not the same thing as o-ring lube)

Oh-yeah - if you're one of those guys who cooks food on his exhaust manifolds on a long trip - the butter might not be a bad idea! :) :)

Hee hee!!!

Don't 'really' use butter, things'll start to grow on your battery terminals if you do. Dielectric grease is cheap, get some. (I need to, too!)

BTW....

The manual says to use petroleum jelly, not silicone grease....

FYI....
