Hi, here's the part number I found from the archive for stepper motor of series 1 Discovery.

NAPA part #: 2-1738
AC delco part #: 25527077
Pepboys: Borg Warner #21738

My vehicle is 95 Discovery and do series 1 Disco s use the same stepper motors regardless of model year?

If any of you experienced above parts, I appreciate if you could share your story.

Thanks and best wishes,

Jinwoo

I got the code 48 (stepper motor)after my check engine light went on again for the second time in a few months. The truck stalled soon thereafter in the parking lot at the grocery store, but drove fine the rest of the way home. Reset the light when I got home and it went away. May just try to clean it per the board instead of replacing it outright.

Thoughts?

Definatley clean it and its passage first. That might do the trick..

I got the stepper motor from NAPA(AC delco part #: 25527077) and it took less than 2 minutes to put old one out and new one in.
Yes, they both look exactly same and my old stepper motor was badly covered with black carbon...
Now idling is very smooth and having no more stalling problem for last 3 days with price of less than $39!
Thanks Discoweb!!!

Hey, What is a stepper motor? My Disco idles very ruff. Where is it located so I can clean mine out. (or replace) I have new plugs, that didn't help idle.

stepper motor is behind the intake manifold.

it is #15 on this link below. this diagram will help. try cleaning with alcohol (no not beer). if it looks really bad why not just replace it for 40 duckets.

got this link from ken a while back.

www.roverconnection.com/Disco%20Parts/ds1d14.htm

if this does not help the idle at all put some new plug wires on if your have over 30K on them. magencores work well for most.

Anyone know what section the stepper motor is under in the workshop manual? the link above shows a detailed diagram, but I just wanted to look in the workshop manual as well.
