I tried a Spicer 5-153X on my rear U-joint tonight as stated in some of the old threads and found that it didn't work. It was to big in width. Anyone got any idea what's up?
My truck is a 97.

Tom,
I tried the same with similar results - had to go with a different Napa # (can't remember right now). According to Bill at GBR, different driveshafts take different size u-joints - must be one of those wacky LR part substition things. Apparently just knowing year doesn't help (?)
FYI - mine is a '97 also

At some point they switched them. I heard #344 and #369 (Napa/precision), one for back and one for front. For my 98. It ended up that both shafts used the same u-joint and it was the smaller of the two--I think Precision #344. Ironically, the smaller one ended up costing a bit more. I don't know what the Spicer part # is, though.
