I realize that a D1 would probably not work on a D2 but how about vice versa ? The D2 is a little longer I know but how about the width ? TIA

From what I've been told, only the length is different. The extra width of a DII is only in the track of the axles. The roof is the same width. I could be wrong, though.

Here's an old photo I saved from a couple of years ago. It looks like a SI rack on the SII...

Indeed it does, i guess it will fit, the D2 rack would look wacky on the d1 one though with all the overhang.

Looks like it will fit w/ a couple inches overhang on the front and rear ? Thanks for the picture Wes. Not a problem for me since I will like the extra space. Any other potential conflicts or problems w/ the little overhang ?

yes, you will not be able to fit a mantec snorkel on your truck if you have a d2 rack fitted.

The rack could just be scooted too far forward in those pics. You can do the same witn any of them. If it is indeed positioned correctly and its a series 1 rack I wouldnt be too worried about that little bit of difference. You can split the difference in length front to back and it should look fine.

kyle, wont the tabs for the light dig into the roof before you could push it back to make it look even?

Picked up the D2 rack today and I actually like it a lot better than a D1 Adventure rack. I have about 2-3 inches overhang on the front and rear but it does not look awkward at all. I did not have a centimeter to spare on the front and rear for the brackets to fit the gutters. I never did like the way the S1 racks fit so close to the roof on the front; this looks much more normal to me. The D2 owner that sold it to me said he liked the way it fit on the D1 better as well. I will try and take some pics and post if anyone is interested.
