Improperly set hub end float will cause an ABS fault and trigger the light. The nut closest to the outer bearing is used to set end float. Here is the info to set end float that I have...
Install hub adjusting nut(the one closest to the uter bearing).
Tighten to 61 Nm.
Back off adjusting nut 90°.
Tighten to 4 Nm.
This will give the required hub end float of 0.01 mm
I would try that first, since you just did your hubs. Otherwise the only way to retrieve ABS fault codes is a trip to the dealer

At least in our 95 (and I think on many years) you can jumper the black and black/purple wire contacts on the blue 5-pin diagnostic connector under the driver's side of the dash on the left side of the steering wheel and read blink codes from the abs light that will tell you what the problem is (or which wheel it is on). Procedure is described in a TSB (27/10/95) - see www.alldata.com. I also think it's on Perrone Ford's Spanish Trails Rovers site in the technical section, but I can't remember the URL. Good luck.

jec:

Thanks for the tip. I had seen that jumping suggestion before, but didnt know where the connector was on the 95 disco. I only knew that it was under the passenger seat on the old rover classics per Perrone's site. Thanks

Jec:

I checked my 95 Disco and the diagnostic connector under the steering wheel only has three wires going into it: black, yellow/pink stripe, and yellow/green stripe. Plus my connector is clear not blue. The connector is located between the pedals and the fuse cover behind a black panel. Is that the right area?

Jorge: Did you remove the lower dash panel (about 8 inches tall and 2 feet wide) that's held on with two plastic screws? The connector is behind that. My wife is gone with the Rover for two weeks, so I can't go down to the garage to see the connector you're referring to. The description of the connector and wires that I provided came from a writeup in the Rovers North newsletter. I don't recall finding anything different when I checked my abs light, so I think you have not yet found the correct connector.

Jorge:
P.S. I checked my sources. The "5 way blue connector" came from the factory shop manual, which confirms the location I just wrote. The wire colors came from the Rovers North writeup. Hope this works.

Yes its under the black panel with the two plastic screws. The one I am talking about is right there when you open it and its attached to a metal clip for convinience i guess. Is what are talking about difficult to find or was it right there as soon as the panel was removed?

PS its no big rush, I had the problem for a few months, just would like to diagnose the abs once and for all!!

Jorge:
You must have a black interior - the "black panel" threw me because ours is beige (beige interior). Yes, I seem to remember that the connector was right there when I opened it; I don't remember whether there was a clip. Are there 5 holes in the connector but only three wires? I checked the electrical manual, and it suggests 5 holes and 4 wires. It confirms the blue color for the connector. But get this: it says the wires are black, black/pink, white/pink, and white/red. However, due to the truly Roverish nature of the manual, it could also be interpreted that there are only 3 wires, and that the white/red is not part of the connector. So I'm baffled at this point. I do seem to remember a post long ago saying that if you jumper the wrong wires you can damage things, so keep that in mind. The folks at Rovers North volunteered in their article to tell you what the fault codes that you find are if you call them. Why not try calling them at 802 879 0032 and ask if the wire colors and connector color could be different? For reference, the article was in "Ask Rovers North" by Dave Sangerhausen in the summer 2000 issue of "The Rovers North News." I'll try to remeber to look and update this post when my wife brings the Rover home. If you don't see something in a week and a half, update the post yourself to bring it to the top of the list to remind me. Another thing: I couldn't get the code to clear and turn off the light. But it turned out when I finally had the dealer work on it (under extended warranty) that there were two separate codes, and something like 15 occurrences of each (it was an intermittent problem - the light wasn't on all the time). I just hadn't read the code enough times to clear all the occurrences, or to get to the second code.
