Well I just did the 60K service on my 97 Disco. Thought I would share my experiece in case anyone else was interested in doing this. I am fairly mechanically inclined but not a "Mechanic" by any means. Here is what I did:
Installed K&N Air Filter 33-2737 $45 delivered
Changed Engine Oil (Used Castrol GTX and K&N Oil HP2004 Filter)$18
Changed Spark Plugs (Used NGK V-Power BPR5EY/1233)$12
Changed Spark Plug Wires (Used Magnecore 8mm wires) $56 delivered
Changed Fuel Filter $10
Changed Fluid in Front/Rear Differentials $12
Changed Transfer Case fluid ($ included in diff cost-uses same fluid)
Changed Fluid/Filter/Pan Gasket for Transmission (Used Recommended Havoline ATF)Transmission change kit cost $35. The fluid was $20
Lubed Driveline

Everything went well. I highly recommend the NGK plugs. They make great products. The Magnecore wires are VERY nice wires. I used a drill bit and bored out the wire holders a little so the 8mm would slip in. Worked great. The Disco now idles better and has better throttle response. I attribute this to the air filter/plugs/wires. The K&N air filter drops right in. The K&N oil filter is a very nice filter. Why don't all filters have a nut on the end? Just accomodate your oil fill by about 1/4 quart less, as the K&N holds less.

Here is what I had done:
Flushed cooling system (Block/heater core/radiator) $45 Used the new Havoline GM recommended antifreeze that is specially formulated for aluminum engines and radiators.
Flushed brake fluid and inspected brakes $40
Everything looked great. I had these two items done because I do not have the capabilities to handle all of the antifreeze. And I feel that without a powerbleeder the brakes are never right. Plus it saves the wife from pumping the pedal all day!! (Hence an argument because she let her foot off!!)
The overall cost was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than what the dealer wanted. By hundreds!
Well that was my experience. We have a place locally called Thomas Import Parts. Joel is great at finding Rover parts for tremendously cheaper than the dealer! http://www.thomasimportparts.com/
Hope that helps someone!
Thanks
