Hey there everyone...I have an API Aftermarket on my Disco I that's goning to run out in 500 miles at 80k.

I need another one...soon

What is this "Hal Moses" thing? I can't find any info on it. It was mentioned as being the best a few posts ago. Why? in price? or coverage of stuff?

Hey,

Go to RoverGuy.com, they have this little form you can fill out that goes to Hal Moses, he owns a great warrenty company..

Or you can call him at, 1-800-933-9190.. I can't remeber who underwrites him but they are pretty good and people have had nothing but success with him..

Ben

Travlers Insurance is their underwriter. They are brokers.....they work with many different companies. (i.e. Buyers Choice and API) to name a few. This is my second one with Hal.....good folks I think. If for any reason you want to end your contract or you wreck your truck (like I did) they will give you the precentage back that is left on the warranty. I have a '96 Disco with 50K (my second one) and I got a 4 year/42,000 for about $1600. They vary on what they cover, so check out the fine print before you buy. Some cover diffs some don't, some cover wear and tear items and again some don't. But I have done extensive checking and found AutoAdvatage (Hal Moses) to be the best in regards to coverage of Rovers.

Good luck.

Ever since I purchased my first Rover 2 months ago, I've never heard so much about getting extended warranties! Even from the used car place I bought it. In the past, I've bought used Volvos, BMWs, all kinds of cars and never even considered getting an extended warranty. It makes me nervous and anxious that all of a sudden, I feel I need one for the Rover. Now, I've been one who does most of my own work on cars for the past 25 years. I change oil, filters, regular maintenance, my own brake jobs, etc. and yet, never thought to getting a warranty. What gives? Are Rovers real peculiar that it's impossible to work on them, or what? thanks

For one the parts can be pretty pricey and there are certain things on these trucks that seem to fail. A steering box will set you back about $750 or so. And there is no aftermarket parts for allot the the items that you may want to get. There are some though.....like a rebuilt alt. for about $250 compaired to the genuine for about $650. It does not take long for these warranties to pay for themselves......SUV's in general are much more expensive to maintain. In a Disco you have three differentials and a tranfer case......break any one of them and your warranty has done more than pay for itself. Even if you do much of your own work, parts can be high for some things on these trucks.
My brother has a Volvo too and he just bought one of these warranties......even on one of those cars one transmission failure and your feeling better about spending $1500 on a warranty.
Actually in most cases these trucks are easier to work on than your BMW or Volvo you had. One look under the engine and most things are pretty accessable. And the same thing underneath as well.
My advise.......get a warranty......better safe than sorry and a great piece of mind with any car or truck.

I just bought an ext. warranty through Hal @ Auto Advantage and I too did some research and found his plan to be the best regarding coverage and price. There are others that provide exclusionary plans, but the price is steep if you are not still under the factory warranty. The two LR dealers in Tampa are familiar with this plan and both have had nothing bad to say about the company, and yes, Autoadvantage does pay posted labor rates, even LR Dealer rates. So it depends on what you want to spend and how much you can do yourself. Good luck and don't wait, else your LR could eat you alive in a single unprotected shop visit.
