My 1995 V8 (AUTO)Discovery jumps out of low range when the drivetrain isn't loaded up. ie: when you back of the gas and then get back on it, suddenly you are in neutral(happens at the worst times of course)
I've heard a few people talk about this problem, so perhaps its not all that uncommon?? To fix the problem, the transfer case is problably going to have to come out ($$$).
My question is this...(this sounds really dodgy) what if i put a rubber strap arround the lever and back onto the dash, just to keep a bit of load on the lever to stop it disengaging. Will this damage or wear anything??
(I had an old series 1 years ago, that required numerious okky straps to keep it in gear) Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well here is what I did, you need to take the center console out and get down to the transfer case were the shifter connects and you need to spray the hell out it with PB blaster and as you do that keep moving and shifting it back and forth, the problem is the shifter gets junk all down in there and sometimes want engage completely and that sounds like the problem!! Does your chim sound stay on for awhile as well? Just advice try ir and let me know!!
