I am interested to know what the age of the Discoweb users are. This is just for curiosity sake here, there are no further implications. Here, Ill start:
32 years old

30 SWM (straight!!), likes mt. biking, hiking, camping, and into alt. country music. enjoy traveling all over. love dogs and hate cats.......hehe
i would guess there is a pretty good cross section of age here. i am going to venture a guess at 36 being the average here.

Who's the oldest?
By Bill Leek on Monday, July 30, 2001 - 05:08 am: Edit |
I will be 50 (Yes, the big Five-Oh!) later this year.
By MA on Monday, July 30, 2001 - 05:25 am: Edit |
I'm betting money that I'm the youngest one here...I'm 16. I've always liked Land Rover's because I use to live close to Birmingham, England. It wasn't the best place i've been, but the fact that almost everybody I knew had something to do with LR was cool stuff. We'd always go to the local LR stuff happening just to have something to do. I made a promise to myself when we left England, and that was to have a Land Rover for my first car. So, coincidently, around the time I turned 15, one of my dads friends was selling his 1994 Land Rover Discovery 5-speed(with only 40,000 miles, perfect condition, fully loaded), we bought it from him for an extremely reasonable price! It's the only Disco at my school, but more and more Series trucks and old Rangies are appearing. The thing that pisses me off the most is when I get this comment "I like your J**p, it's bad ass!"

sick & twisted, Garrett I don't think that cats taste like chicken, they taste like chinese food...come to think of it, so do dogs...hmmmm...

Sweet and Sour Cat, Cat Brocolli, Steamed Cat over Rice... the list goes on and on...

i tried that with my j**p in high school with little luck, but with a disco the possibilities would have been phenom!!! too bad the disco was not imported for another 5 years after i graduated.

31 for a month and 13 days longer(9-12-69). I sold my "project" 94 Disco today to a 15 year old kid. I would have loved to of even had a car with A/C when I was his age. They've got some work to do but it was a good deal all around.
Ross
One less Disco adding another D90...probably
97 Disco LSE "soon to be project"
97 Disco SE "For Sale"
98 Disco LE7 "Mall crawler"
94 D90 SE "Hopefully sold"
94 D90 with 127K miles on it's way???

35 been polishing and waxing my Disco (96) for a long time, I just ,for the first time whent 4x4ing with the boy's from LR Richmond B.C. this weekend and loved it. My wife almost divorced me, because I scream at her almost every time she drives it. She couldn't believe how dirty and scratched up it was. It took me 8 hour's to buff all the scratches out. It looks just the same as when it rolled off the factory floor. My three kids call me Discoman because I'm always doing something to it. Just love that truck.Sometimes more than the wife hehehe.

Well, ... my husband is 5 years younger than me, but everyone thinks I'm younger than him(??) ... Ohhhhh ... why don't I like this question ... could it be, say, because I am suddenly feeling vain and insecure??? I usually don't mind telling anyone my age ... in person, that is ... Okay, let's just say that I'm somewhere in between the ages of Solo, Steve2, and Mike W. Alright, let's say I'm closer to Mike W. ;-)
Kim
Oh, and I do (of course) love cats. May some of you guys never see anything like this next time you are dining on Asian cuisine ....

By Blue Gill (Bluegill) on Monday, July 30, 2001 - 05:48 pm: Edit |
Roverine - very funny. I actually love cats - Mom & Dad just buried Kitty after she finally kicked the bucket after 22 years....
My wife is 8 years older than me....but people think she's younger than me (and I look like I'm 12). It's how old you feel, not the ticks on the clock that count.
C.Ross - I still think you're sick...wish I could afford your sickness Discoman, you're not far behind
By Roverine on Monday, July 30, 2001 - 06:10 pm: Edit |
Thanks, Blue ... I may be cheating a little when I say everyone thinks I'm younger than hubby - while he has lots of hair, he started going gray when he was 21 - lots of gray now! (from being married to me???) he he he

News Flash!!!! You are only as old as you feel/act! If owning a Land Rover is a disease, it may well be the only known ailment that causes the victim to feel/act in a manner that defies the aging process. Rover on!
Bud, beatin' the clock and loving it!

1. Rover
2. Marriage
3. House

Yes Chris (smokinbro) Richmond B.C. Canada. Are you a local Vancouver guy ? What colour Disco and year maybe I've seen you on the road. I drive a green se7 always polished with a front bush bar.
By 94Rover on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 - 06:37 am: Edit |
Hey Blue Gill, thats the same exact order for me as well, the ironic thing about that is thats the story I tell to anyone who wants to listen..
1. 94 RangeRover Classic Jan'99
( my wife(fiance' at the time) thought I was going to use the money to get a 5carat ring from Tiffany's)...yeah right, I got a 1c.plat.from Tiffany's---didn't want the jealousy.
2.House in April'00-got my money together so we could get the end unit townhouse(wanted something larger, my own driveway with a garage, but my wife has one more year of Law School left, and I'm trying to finish this MBA)
3. Married in Oct. "00(honeymoon paid for with the left over money used to purchase the Rover-but wanted to use it to "fix/outfit up the Rover".
4.First born June '01
5. Turn 30-August '01
6. Get Discovery SeriesI Sept. '01
No grey hairs yet, but coming soon I suspect..
wait, I haven't even started growing hair on my chest yet.........

Dag, thats something special there....you'll have to celebrate the Anniversary and B-day together..you will most likely probably remember the anniversary.............doubt you'd forget you childs b-day.....
Your Rover arrived in December....funny also because I got my Rover in Jan....it was a delayed gift to myself for the holidays.......
This year in Sept, the 97-Disco will be a early Anniversary gift to myself....ughh, lets see maybe a fake B-day gift to my wife...her b-day is in Sept....I say fake because she doesn't know what plans I have in store for her Disco.....She should like the sticker....ya think?

Willow Green '98, Brush bar - Hella 500 - Thules - Running boards for city use.
I purchased at Rich. Automall, just havn't got around to going for a trail ride with them yet
By discoman on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 - 04:44 pm: Edit |
Chris you have to go with them ,it's something else to watch Ryan Cowell drive his Disco . He makes the hardest trail's look easy. It realy is amazing what a nice comfertable ride like the Disco can do and still look great at the valet parking. Try that with a j**p grand and you will be bringing back a box of broken and fallen off part's.

I read LRO for two full years before buying my 95 Disco. I'm just starting mods now, but took it to Hollister this past weekend for the first real outing.
I bought it last August for my 30th birthday, after years of driving ***tbox (read reliable) imports. Oh, yeah - Ho just installed my gallery today! Very exciting to finally be a part of this incredible group.
God Save Land Rover,

Jeff, how's you're little guy coming along? ... and, .. to to the rest of you 'newbie' parents, and those of you expecting, "Vaye con dios" (hope my spanish isn't too rusty). ... Anyway, it only get's better (and better)! Bless you all!
Okay, here's a picture of my youngest, when we were searching for an extra tire (when we "killed 2 with one stone") to put on our 6 lug wheel out in the middle of nowhere (Ocatillo Wells). The little guy had a blast! (He finally "caught a lizard", which was his main focus on the expedition ...)
For him, "it just dosen't get any better..."
