Have an intermittent idle problem on my '95 Disco. I'm looking for some advice. Sometimes the rpm's fluctuates at idle. Sometimes to the point of stalling. I've replaced plugs, wires, cap & rotor, o2 sensors, and have been playing around with the stepper motor. I've bought a Borg warner replacment, but this seems to aggrivate the problem. Can't find any vaccum leaks either. Can someone help me? Does it hurt to drive with the stepper motor harness unplugged? I'm trying to narrow down the problem.

Could be electrical. I've seen this happen on older Range Rovers (89) when the alternator is going. I'm not sure if it is due to a low voltage to the coil or to the fuel pump.
Thanks,
Mike B.

Check the air gap on the distributor. Also check the distros shaft for play. Both of those can cause a intermittent idle prolem.

Make sure that you have the base idle nailed down before you swap anything else. This will help if you dont have the manual:

Could be a crappy fuel pump too.....
