Dear list,

When driving my 1996 Disco Tdi with autobox the oilstick gets pushed out a bit from the tube, maybe 1-2 cm. If I push it back it will go out again the next time that I use the car. Oil level is ok. Is there a breather somewher which might be clogged or is this something that happens to all autoboxes?

The breather runs up from the auto to the trans tunnel and ends up in a half loop behind what would be the lifter valley on a V8 - PIA to reach, but check it out because it could be blocked.
