I'm considering a Disco II but was wondering if OME suspensions, ARB whinch bumpers, ARB airlockers, and Safari snorkels are available for them yet? Also, does anyone know how the use of the air lockers (when engaged) would affect the electronic traction control system (4ETC)? Thanks for the help.

All are available and if you install a CDL the ETC will not engage at all with the lockers locked.

I've heard the CDL (for a new D2) is an interesting, rather "funky" set up (?). Not talking about locking from the undercarriage - I'm talking about the one that is actually set up in the interior of the truck - different shifters that kind of go to the side of the origional configuration?? Are there any photos out there? Just curious ... (maybe I'm confused, and just thinking of something I dreamt?!? LOL)

Kim,
You can get a kit that does not look any different at all from what you have now. all that will be different is that when you push the lever over your center dif gets locked(just like a D1)

Thanks, Ron. I'd sure like to see one - do you know how/what other components are effected (shocks/springs, axel, drivetrain??), and what the cost (installed) would approx. be? Once again, I'm just curious ... but as mentioned in the $20 rock thread, I must stop this - need to put a damp cloth on my head - I've got "the fever" right now!

Call charles at rover accessories.
I think it was about 600 with everything but if you are creative and don't mind salvage D1 parts it should be less than half of that. You see nothing from inside the cabin.
Join the DII yahoo list
They have talked about it for a couple years at least.

Roverine and Ron,
If you price out the DI parts that need to be substituted for the DII parts, the total comes out around $490 for parts alone. I recently did this little exercise for my DII. The Roveraccessories kit runs $625 for modified parts, instructions and maybe tools. But Charles of Roveraccessories is the man to ask about this. It's worth every penny.
As Ron said, join the yahoo DII list, or just search the archives on the list. We have discussed the topic at length.
Cheers,
David

490 new or used?
With the number of wrecked DIs used parts should be fairly cheap until everyone wants CDL in there DII

I got most of the DSI CDL componets from my local bone yard for $60. Still sitting in the garage...

The Roveraccessories kit is a ripoff because you can buy the Disco1 CDL lever at a Rover graveyard for less than 100 bucks. It's not like that part wears out or anything.

Brian and Disco2,
Want to sell me a used setup from a DI? The local wreck places around here either don't have them or hardly speak any English.

FYI it is not a drop in replacement. There needs to be adapting for it to work properly. The main difference is the linkage btw the shifter and the hi/low actuator arm on the box. The D2 uses a cable system, the D1 uses a rigid connecting rod, and the hi/low actuator arms(d1 vs d2) have a different offset. It shouldn't be too hard though.
Not sure if I am going to use mine. I'll let you know if i want to sell.

Brian,
I understand this. Roveraccessories does re-fit a DI linkage for much less. So buying the parts second hand is preferred by myself. So if you do end up selling this, or know an easier way for me to track down the used parts, please let me know.
Thanks.
